Crochet Headband/Earwarmer-Free Pattern!




Crochet Headband/Earwarmer

Materials:
I-9 crochet hook
Medium, worsted weight yarn
(Pictured: Lily Sugar’n Cream)
Yarn needle
Button of your choice

Stitches Used:
Single Crochet (insert hook from front to back, yo, draw up a loop, yo, pull through both loops on hook)
Double Crochet (yo, insert hook from front to back, yo, draw up a loop, yo, pull through first 2 loops on hook, yo, pull through both loops on hook)
Slip Stitch (insert hook from front to back, yo, pull through all loops on hook)
Puff Stitch (yo, insert hook from front to back, yo, draw up a loop, yo, pull through first 2 loops on hook, yo, insert hook from front to back [in same stitch], yo, draw up a loop, yo, pull through first 2 loops on hook, yo, insert hook from front to back [in same stitch], yo, draw up a loop, yo, pull through first 2 loops on hook, yo, pull through all 4 loops on hook)
Double Crochet 2 Stitches Together (yo, insert hook from front to back, yo, draw up a loop, insert hook in next stitch from front to back, yo, draw up a loop, yo, pull through first 2 loops on hook, yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook)

Abbreviations:
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Puff Stitch (ps)
Double Crochet 2 Stitches Together (dc2tog)
Chain (ch)

Finished Size: approx. 3 ½” wide x 21” circumference

Pattern: Working in rows
Ch 8 (counts as 6 ch and dc)
Row 1: dc in the 3rd ch from hook and in each across. Ch 3, turn. (7 dc)
Row 2: ps in each st across. Ch 3, turn. (6 ps)
Row 3: dc in first st and in each st across (7 dc)
Row 4: ps in each st across. Ch 3, turn. (6 ps)
Row 5: dc in the first st, dc in next 4, 2 dc in last stitch. Ch 3, turn. (8 dc)
Row 6: ps in each st across. Ch 3, turn. (7 ps)
Row 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17,   on hook, yo, pull through innext 2 st, dc in next 2. ch  3, turn. (rn. 19, 21, 23 : (increase) dc in first st, dc in next 5, 2 dc in last stitch. Ch 3, turn. (9 dc)
Row 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24: ps in each stitch across. Ch 3, turn. (8 ps)
Row 25: dc in first st and in next 2 st, dc2tog over next 2 st, dc in next 3 st. ch3, turn. (8 dc)
Row 26: Repeat Row 6
Row 27: dc in first st and in each st across. Ch 3, turn. (8 dc)
Row 28: ps in each st across. Ch 3, turn. (7 ps)
Row 29: dc in first st and in next 2, dc2tog over next 2 st, dc in next 2. Ch 3, turn. (7 dc)
Row 30: Repeat Row 4
Row 31: Repeat Row 3

Finish: Using 7 sl st across, seam the two ends together.
Tuck in ends using yarn needle.

Ch 4. Join with sl st to first ch to form a ring.
1st rnd: Ch 4 (counts as dc and ch 1). (1 dc. Ch 1) 7 times in ring. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. Break.
2nd rnd: Join with sl st to front loop of any dc. Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp. *Ch 2. 2 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 2. 1 sc in front loop only of next dc. Rep from * around, ending with 2 dc in last ch-1 sp. Ch 2. Join with sl st to first sc. Break.
3rd rnd: Join with sl st to rem loop of any dc behind 2nd rnd. Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp. *Ch 4. 1 sc in rem back loop of next dc. Rep from * around, ending with ch 4. Join with sl st to first sc.
4th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. *Ch 2. 4 dc in next ch-4 sp. Ch 2. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around, ending with ch 2. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Attach button in the center of flower using yarn needle.

Materials:

I-9 crochet hook

Medium, worsted weight yarn (145 yds/133m)

(Pictured: Oatmeal by Vanna’s Choice/Lion Brand Yarn)

Yarn needle

2 or 3 buttons of your choice (optional)

Stitches Used:

Single Crochet (insert hook from front to back, yo, draw up a loop, yo, pull through both loops on hook)

Double Crochet (yo, insert hook from front to back, yo, draw up a loop, yo, pull through first 2 loops on hook, yo, pull through both loops on hook)

Single Crochet Two Stitches Together (insert hook from front to back, yo, draw up a loop, insert hook in next stitch from front to back, yo, draw up a loop, yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook)

Abbreviations:

Single Crochet (sc)

Double Crochet (dc)

Single Crochet Two Stitches Together (sc2tog)

Slip stitch (sl st)

Chain (ch)

Stitch (st)

Finished Size: 4” tall, width depends on the circumference of leg

Pattern:

Working in rows. Make 2:

(Rows marked with * are worked in back loops only)

Ch 11.

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each st across. Ch 1. (10 sc)

Row 2*: sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (10 sc)[repeat row 2, 45 times so you will have a total of 46 rows]

Using 10 sl st across, seam the two ends to form a circle being careful not to twist

Ch 1, turn your work 90° clockwise.

[If the cuff does not fit perfectly around your leg you can add more rows of sc until it fits comfortably]

Round 1: sc 46 times around the edge of the cuff. Join with a sl st in the ch 1 space. Ch 1.

[If you added more rows of sc, make sure you sc that many times around the edge of the cuff. For example, if you sc 50 rows you would sc 50 times around the cuff]

Round 2: sc in each st across. Join with a sl st. Ch 2. (46 sc)

Round 3: dc in each st across. Join with a sl st. Ch 1. (46 dc)

Rounds 4 and 6: Repeat round 2

Rounds 5 and 7: Repeat round 3.

Round 8: *sc2tog over the next two stitches, sc in the next 4. Repeat from * around. (38 sc)

Join with a sl st. Fasten off.

Finish: Tuck in ends with yarn needle and add 2 or 3 buttons of your choice to the outside of each cuff.
